Our local Sons of the American Legion Squadron 112 Utah as well as our American Legion Riders Chapter 112 Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah is very engaged in serving our local Veterans and their families in multiple ways... Visiting our Veterans at the Salt Lake VA Hospital sometimes multiple times a week, sponsoring Veteran meals, service projects, Post 112 Beautification projects, Veteran reach out programs such as our "Operation Buddy Check Post 112", as well as our Legion Riders Chapter112 riding in support of many Utah charities throughout the Spring through Fall... Ride to Prevent Suicide, Utah Fallen Officers aka Utah Law Enforcement Memorial, Hal Wing Honoring Heroes, Christmas Box House, Primary Childrens Hospitals, ABATE, Ride to Be Alive, Veterans of Foriegn Wars, to name a few and embrace opportunites to escort funerals.
Nationally, The Sons of The American Legion Squadrons can determine the extent of their services to the community, state and nation. They are permitted flexibility in planning programs and activities to meet their needs, but must remember..
The Sal's mission: to strengthen the four pillars of The American Legion. Therefore, squadrons’ campaigns place an emphasis on preserving American traditions and values, improving the quality of life for our nation’s children, caring for veterans and their families, and teaching the fundamentals of good citizenship.
Since 1988 natioanally The Sons of the American Legion has raised more than $10 million for The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation. SAL members have volunteered over 500,000 hours at veterans hospitals and raised over $1,000,000 for VA hospitals and VA homes. The SAL also supports the Citizens Flag Alliance, a coalition dedicated to protecting the U.S. flag from desecration through a constitutional amendment.
The American Legion Riders nationally since 2006 has raised over $19 Million for the Legacy Fund and Veterans and Childrens Fund.
All male descendants adopted sons, and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918, or any time from December 7, 1941, to date, who served honorably, as set forth in Article IV of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion..
There shall be no forms or class of membership except an active membership.
No person may be a member at any one time of more than one squadron.
